YUME TAPS SILICON VALLEY VET RICHARD YANOWITCH
Yanowitch, Veteran Silicon Valley Entrepreneur and Former VeriSign Exec, Joins YuMe Board of Directors
Redwood City, CA—April 22, 2008 —YuMe, the largest online video advertising network, today announced that veteran Silicon Valley entrepreneur and former VeriSign executive Richard Yanowitch has joined the company’s board of directors.
Yanowitch is CEO of The Entrepreneurs Group and was previously a venture partner at Accel Partners. He has a proven track record of transforming early–stage companies into high–growth market leaders, creating millions of customers, billions of dollars in revenue, and multiple–billions of dollars in sustained shareholder value.
Yanowitch will serve in the role of independent director, joining a board which includes YuMe co–founders Jayant Kadambi and Ayyappan Sankaran, as well as representatives from Khosla Ventures, Accel Partners, BV Capital and DAG Ventures.
“Over the past year, Richard has played a leading role in helping YuMe transform from a startup to the largest ad network dedicated specifically to online video advertising,” said Kadambi. “Richard’s deep knowledge of the media business and his expertise helping startups scale will be invaluable as we continue to grow.”
Yanowitch recently served as Vice Chairman of the NDS Group, a $700 million market leader in digital media technologies, and as Senior Consultant to News Corporation, where he reported to Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch.
“YuMe is emerging as the clear market leader in the rapidly growing video advertising market, and it’s my job to help them realize their full potential,” Yanowitch said. “I think the partnerships we’ve built with leaders like NBC, Microsoft, Google and others speak to the power of YuMe’s technology and to the role this company is playing in the digital media transformation happening on the Web today.”
Previously, Yanowitch served as Executive Vice President for Internet services provider VeriSign, where his team helped build numerous high–growth businesses and lead its international expansion. Yanowitch also served as Vice President of Corporate Marketing for database provider Sybase, and was Director of Strategic Marketing at UNIX operating system provider SCO, where he was lead negotiator for a breakthrough licensing agreement and strategic investment with Microsoft. Previously, Yanowitch held various sales, marketing and management positions with Digital Equipment Corporation and Lanier Harris, and served as an entrepreneur–in–residence at the venture capital firm IVP.
